Poetry, Prose and Place a one-week residential retreat and creative break - 28 September - 4 October 2009
In the workshops there will be time to read selected pieces of poetry and prose, excerises to help your own writing and discussion and feedback on all of these. We will focus on writing about place - real and remembered, near or far, familiar or unfamiliar, past or present - in poetry and prose.
Day 1 (Monday) Arrival late afternoon. Dinner.
Days 2, 3 & 4 (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday) Morning workshops. Lunch.
Afternoon free for writing, relaxing, exploring. Dinner.
Day 5 (Friday) Free day.
Day 6 (Saturday) Visit to Pézenas market and historic town. Lunch in
Pézenas. Afternoon free to explore Pézenas or to return to Gabian.
Dinner.
Day 7 (Sunday) Morning workshops. Lunch. Afternoon free for writing,
relaxing, exploring. Dinner. **
Day 8 (Monday) Departure.
Each evening except day 5 the tutor will be available from 6.30 - 7.30 p.m. to discuss individuals' work.
** In the past we have arranged a reading for a small invited audience on the last night of the week. This is a possibility if participants would like to do this.

Workshop participants, per person: 650 €
Non-participants, per person: 400 €
A non-refundable deposit of 100 € per person (participant or non-participant) is required on
booking. Balance is due by 28 August 2009.
The cost includes accommodation and all meals from dinner on Monday evening
until breakfast on the following Monday morning. It does not include flights, transfers, travel
insurance, transport or any other services not mentioned in this programme.
